It’s coming to the end of the week, thankfully not the end of the world, and everyone within the music industry is still very much alive and kicking. From public accusations made by
Jon Bon Jovi to a new perfume fragrance by pop sensation
Justin Bieber, we’re here to tell you all about it in this edition of the Friday #musicwrap.
Is the Music Business Dead?
According to singer/songwriter
Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Jobs is “
personally responsible for killing the music business.” To our surprise, Bon Jovi’s argument was not in defense of the music industry, but rather a nostalgic remembrance of the days of vinyl records. Music has become, much like many other aspects of our lives, a viral component that can be accessed and shared instantly, thanks to popular music outlets such as Job’s
iTunes. It does bring up a good question: has all this online availability of music, and even piracy of music, affected the industry and its integrity? While there will always be parties on both sides of the argument, one thing is for sure: the music business is a business and it will always be changing its structure at the hands of the consumer.
Justin Bieber releases new perfume fragrance, “Someday”
17-year old pop sensation
Justin Bieber has come out with a
new perfume fragrance for girls (and even some moms!) around the world. This new fragrance debuts just shortly after his unisex cologne, My World hit the
market. In an
interview with Ryan Seacrest, the pop star said, “I wanted to do a fragrance for women basically because I want to be smelling the girls’ neck.” He continued by saying, “I want to tell the girls what I like and what I think is going to be hot.” The release of the perfume is accompanied by an alluring commercial featuring Bieber, which you can view
here. Will you be among the first to flaunt the new scent? Who knows, with Bierber’s obvious attraction to the scent, maybe there will be ‘
One Less Lonely Girl’ very soon!
It looks like his chivalry we talked about last week didn’t put the nail in his coffin after all! On Wednesday Scotty McCreery was crowned our newest Americal Idol. Less than a day after performing his first single, “I Love You This Big,” the Idol winner has already climbed his way to No. 1 on iTunes downloads. In line with the courtesy and good sportsmanship we have seen on the show, Idol runner up Lauren Alaina had nothing but sincere kindness and support for McCreery. There was as much support from home as there was on stage as McCreery had an emotional breakdown visiting his hometown, due to the immense amount of love given to him by his high school family. What do you think of Scotty McCreery’s success and of his new single? Let us know in the comments!
