It’s all about the Benjamins
We don’t know about you, but we love watching our favorite NBA teams and players. Some of these players have so much talent making it easy to get caught up in the love of the game. Unfortunately, love from the fans is not enough as the lockout continues. What was supposed to be a breakthrough Thursday morning turned into a dud by Thursday afternoon, with negotiations collapsing between the owners and the players. As this article from ABC News stated, “NBA owners have their priorities, and playing games isn’t first on that list.” Apparently, owners want a 50-50 split of basketball-related income (BRI), but players are offering a split ranging from 50-50 to 53-47, depending on league revenue growth. In other words, a good year meant a player would receive 53% of BRI and a bad year meant 50% of BRI. This means 47% of BRI going to owners during profitable seasons and 50% during the not-so-profitable years. Do you think this is a reasonable request from players?
FOX gets to air World Cup
Fox may have been receiving some flak lately from the entertainment world (did you see the tweets from a certain lead singer), but definitely not from the world of sports. FIFA has announced FOX will broadcast the 2018 and 2022 World Cup, according to Fox Soccer, beating out ESPN and NBC. Included in the deal is broadcast of the 2015 and 2019 Women’s World Cup, as well as broadcasting rights to other FIFA events. Have you been to a World Cup? Please share your story with us!
College Football: 20 vs 1 and the “Big Ten Showdown”
Amidst all the games this weekend, there are two that are making headlines right now…
- No. 20 Auburn at No. 1 LSU – Auburn was last year’s national champion and LSU is ranked No. 1 so far this season…talk about some rivalry!
- No. 6 Wisconsin at No. 16 Michigan State – Will it be a repeat of last October with the Spartans beating the Badgers?
Who are you rooting for?
